New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal

The lovely city of Christchurch got hit with a terrible earthquake this week. We have all been glued to the tv watching the aftermath & wondering what we can do if we live too far away to help in person. The number one answer is a lot money is required for a variety of needs, and that is something we can all manage, even if it is only a few dollars.

The Red Cross have set up text and phone donations, details of which can be found on their page redcross.org.nz. There is also information on a number of other ways to donate and also ways to do so from other countries.

If you need added incentive, Foxes shop have set up a number of auctions on their facebook page where you can bid on lovely items and all proceeds will go directly to the Red Cross.

My Bike!

I had been drooling over lovely bikes for the longest time, but spending $900+ on a new ladies Raleigh Retroglide was a bit silly.

Then I found Lola!


She was a bargain to start with, plus she was on special! There was some public 'yay!'ing.

I have given her an un-Warehouse makeover (meaning have replaced all her hot pink parts and peeled off her many Mambo stickers) and now she is perfect and as unique as anything one buys from The Warehouse can be.
The last thing she needs is a nice basket, am keeping my eyes out for the right one.

We have already had some fun adventures, the Pt Chev to Mission Bay return trip was the most fun so far (& most tiring), and now she has been well introduced to the mean streets of Auckland. I have even re-taught myself to cycle with no hands.
